A Renovation Story
I wanted to take a moment to share our incredible experience working with your team. This is my second kitchen renovation with Kitchen Craft, and this time, it was a complete gut job in the new home my partner and I purchased in late 2024.
Our journey to this home was not an easy one. We had been searching for a larger house for quite some time, but with little success. In September 2024, my partner’s mother moved in with us after his father’s dementia progressed to the point where he could no longer be safely cared for in their apartment. Given that she also has early-stage dementia, we knew that living alone—without her husband of 65 years—would be incredibly difficult. Our previous home simply wasn’t big enough, so we set out to find our forever home.
When our realtor told us about a newly listed house, we were excited. On paper, it checked all our boxes, but when we saw it in person, we were disappointed. The home wasn’t well maintained, many of the upgrades had been done poorly, and the kitchen was much too small. Our realtor, however, encouraged us to look beyond its current state and see the potential. The house had great bones—it just needed the right updates.
That’s when we called Andy Schultz, a long-term friend, to meet at the house and discuss the possibility of a new kitchen design. Before making an offer, we needed to know if our dream kitchen was possible—and whether we could afford it. Andy met us the next day, and by that evening, he had already sent us designs and an estimate. Feeling confident, we took the leap, placed an offer, and became successful bidders.
We took possession on November 15th and wasted no time—demolition began that very evening! Our goal? To have a fully functional kitchen by Christmas. Every trade professional we spoke to thought I was crazy. But, as you know, I’m persistent. This renovation was no small feat. It involved removing a wall, relocating water and electrical lines, and designing a dream kitchen that would be both stunning and highly functional. (Well, my dream kitchen— my partner isn’t the chef!) Andy was instrumental in helping us make smart decisions, ensuring our ideas made sense and that everything was placed for maximum efficiency.
Then, partway through the project, Andy fell ill.
Without missing a beat, Jeff stepped in and guided us through to the finish line. He was always available to answer questions and even came out after demo to mark out the kitchen layout, making it easier for the trades to move electrical and plumbing lines.
Coordinating all the trades, inspections, and installations on such a tight timeline was a challenge—but that’s where Valerie came in. She is AMAZING. Her communication and support were invaluable. She ensured everything lined up perfectly, from cabinet installation to countertop templating with Granite Mountain. The automated reminders and emails were incredibly helpful, and when an unexpected delay in inspections required adjustments, she handled it seamlessly.
Then, we met Hisham– our installer. Wow! We absolutely loved him. He was professional, kind, and provided excellent advice and service. His craftsmanship is the best I’ve ever seen. His attention to detail and precision were evident in every aspect of the installation, and we feel so lucky to have had him on our project.
