Adding accent walls to a room, especially a kitchen, can instantly bring some extra zest and personality to the space. It’s like giving your room a stylish makeover without going through a complete overhaul. Let’s dive into accent walls.
Kitchen Craft designer Kelly Murray-Curé has some tips for you when creating accent walls.
- The colour and material of an accent wall should appear elsewhere in the room. In this example, the color of the accent wall is similar to the wood tones of the kitchen cabinetry.
- Achieve texture by the choice of material and also by using both light and dark shades.
- Accent walls should contain something unique (texture, tone, colour). They should complement the room, creating a bold and impactful “look at me” statement. In this example, Kelly combined a complementary accent wall with soft, sage-y green cabinetry which is used in this room only once, and it works beautifully with the main kitchen.
