Do not be fooled by what they’re called. Kitchen cabinets are most certainly not just for kitchens anymore. In fact, there are many unique and clever uses for them beyond of just the kitchen.
Beginning today, our next few posts will focus on some specific uses and designs that work to not only expand upon the range of Kitchen Craft ‘kitchen’ cabinets, but also hopefully give you some pretty amazing ideas for adding more function and storage to your own home as well.
There are really two big reasons why using kitchen cabinets in other rooms of the home is beneficial. First, because when installed, they have a clean and finished look that can be difficult to achieve with pre-fab options that just don’t have ‘the look’.
Second, by design, kitchen cabinets also offer an extremely efficient way to provide you with more storage compared to other solutions. As an added bonus, when you incorporate the same kitchen cabinets for all rooms in your home, it will naturally create a very cohesive look, while also saving you money.
Let’s start with a great home office (plus) design.
The recent push for more and more people to start working from their homes has certainly sparked a renewed interest in home office cabinetry design. At Kitchen Craft, we have evolved with this trend and, as a result, have many options for our customers to choose from when it comes to setting up a high quality work-from-home solution that both functions well, and also looks beautiful.
Putting the PLUS in this Home Office Design
When the idea for adding a home office comes to mind, it can be helpful to take a careful look around that space to see if there are any other areas of your home that could benefit from the addition of some cabinets, while complimenting, and even expanding upon your home office too.
For example, if you work from your home, you know how difficult it can be to control the clutter in your office space. High quality, built-in kitchen cabinets will instantly give your new home office a much neater, tidier aesthetic compared to a room full of scattered office supplies and miscellaneous papers.
In our example home office, featuring the Tamarind door style in Maple with the very popular Nimbus Finish, we have combined plenty of clever storage within the desk area, even adding some additional base cabinets that are “built-into” the adjacent wall.
However, due to the natural layout of the overall space, we were also able to create a one-of-a-kind set of base cabinets with open bookcases on the second level. This addition not only helps to tie the entire room together, but also provides a lot of extra storage for books, reports, knick knacks and whatever else needs to be tucked away and still easy to access at a moment’s notice.
The Final Piece of the Puzzle – A Bed?
The addition of some more Kitchen Craft kitchen cabinets in this space allowed it to become much more than simply a home office. With a few modifications, custom-depth cabinets and panels are used to create a single bed, complete with a small adjacent night stand.
Providing even more additional storage under the bed for extra linens or pillows, this unique piece is truly the icing on the cake when it comes to tying the entire room together as a single, cohesive living space.
Is There a Kitchen Craft Home Office in Your Future?
As we’ve said, using Kitchen Craft semi-custom kitchen cabinets in your home office can produce results that are both elegant and useful. With so many different door styles and finish colours available, you and your Kitchen Craft Designer can choose the cabinets that compliment other rooms in your home, like the kitchen of course.
